When
choosing the builder we wished to partner with for the extension and renovation
of our house, our choice was guided largely by our impression of Dean as an
individual. He struck us immediately as someone we felt we could trust with our
property and as someone who cared about his trade. (When he first saw our old bathroom his reaction was a muttered 'oh,
that's ridiculous'.). We decided that we would trust him with our house, and
then once he had the general gist of what we wished to achieve, the day to day
decisions that would enable him to achieve it. This is not to say that we were
unaware of what was going on; in fact the communication was excellent and we
were always made aware of what was going on and of the times when he felt there
were options we should consider. We never felt pressured into taking the more
expensive options, although we often did! He was good at managing our
expectations as to what was achievable and also innovative in some of the
solutions he came up with, and we have come out of this process with pretty
much all that we could have possibly hoped for. Of course there have been inevitable
teething issues, but he has maintained an excellent level of aftercare to get
us through the odd hiccup here and there. I would also comment that it was a
very nice touch that he took his time to get to know us as more than just customers.
In the end though, I can only give some of the comments from our friends and family: "beautiful", "fab", "incredible",
"you can hardly believe
it's the same house".
I think that probably says it all.
